VENDOR RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE

Reporting to the Director of Vendor Relations, the Vendor Relations Representative is responsible for building in-depth relationships with the vendor partners across Rubicon's hauler network. This role will play an integral part in building Rubicon’s competitive advantage by ensuring Rubicon receives the best service at the lowest possible price within its expansive vendor network and by exciting Rubicon’s vendor partners to adopt the company’s technology and other strategic offerings.

Location: Tinton Falls, NJ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly develop an in-depth knowledge of the waste and recycling industry in the US, and the different vendor partners
  • Improve vendor performance for Rubicon along a balanced scorecard through relationship building and negotiations
  • Resolve day-to-day escalated requests relating to vendor performance affecting Rubicon’s customers
  • Continuously challenge new rates received and current rates paid to identify additional margin opportunities for Rubicon based on market conditions and the relationship with vendor partners
  • Complete project work for key account clients, insuring timeliness and margin protection/growth
  • Drive vendor partner adoption of Rubicon’s innovative programs, such as hauler smartphone application and joint buying programs
  • Make data-driven decisions on allocation of customer locations to vendor partners based on their performance along a balanced scorecard
  • Quantify and communicate financial benefit of the supply chain & procurement efforts internally and towards vendor partners
  • Assist other team members with assigned tasks as applicable

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Logistics and Transportation, Operations Management or a related field from a four-year college or university
  • Proven track record in building relationships with vendors to improve their performance
  • Background in vendor partnership management and expert knowledge in negotiations
  • Analytical mindset to support data-driven decision-making and negotiations based on advanced tools (e.g., cleansheet, network optimization etc.)
  • Positive, solution-oriented mindset to bring creative, technology-driven solutions to the waste industry
  • High level of motivation to progress within the organization and ability to balance long-term solutions with rapid impact
  • Strong, concise oral and written communication with internal and external stakeholders across all levels (truck-drivers to CEO)
