WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

As a Lead Engineer for the Electrical team in our Ground Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, build, testing and commissioning of our launch and test facilities globally. Join an inclusive, knowledgeable and passionate team that take pride in their work. 

As a leader at Rocket Lab, you will the subject matter expert, technical decision maker, and coach. Working with the GSE Manager you will prioritize your team’s workload to meet project deliverables and deadlines. You will be responsible for your team’s professional development and performance management.Working alongside a motivated team, we are looking to build upon the positive momentum with upcoming projects in the pipeline.Leading from the front and by example, we are looking for someone who understands the future needs of the business, comfortable getting hands on to support the team towards continued success. No two days will be the same, you'll get the opportunity to work cross functional teams here in Aotearoa working with our ground systems teams(mechanical, fluid and Ice) alongside our technicians at our launch and testing sites. This is a rare opportunity to design, build and own our latest innovations seeing it through to launch! 

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 6+ years experience in electrical power system design, control system design and instrumentation selection; oil, gas, power experience favourable
  • Proven engineering management/ consultancy experience with a proven track record
  • Experience creating electrical and control drawings with CAD software, use of EPLAN is desirable.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and equipment selection.
  • Experience applying NASA, ASME, ASTM, IEC, NFPA or AS/NZS standards. - A/NZS is essential.
  • Hands on experience (in the field).
