About the team + role

Enterprise Risk at Robinhood is assisting the company’s Risk Committee of the Company Board with protecting assets, reputation, and sustainability of the organization. Enterprise Risk provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls that address current and emerging risks to help strengthen the internal controls ecosystem.

As Operational Risk Governance and Oversight Director you will be responsible for identifying and monitoring risks associated with process and technology operations at Robinhood.

It is preferred that this role is located in one of the office locations listed on this job description which will align with our in-office working environment. This position is only eligible for remote work in limited geographies within the US where we do not have physical office locations. What you’ll do

  • Partner closely with Front line business and risk teams to provide oversight and governance over execution risk, transaction risks, operational and technology risks for both, US and International entities. 
  • Perform focused deep dives (as needed) on high priority operational areas:
    • Customer/product impact
    • People risk
    • Technology risk
    • Security and privacy risks
    • Business disruptions and system outages (including business continuity events)
    • Internal/external fraud risks
    • Financial risks
    • Third party and vendor risks
    • Other emerging operational risks
  • Oversight of external events, incidents/ events and root cause analysis that may impact operational risk 
  • Establish and evaluate risk appetite program for top risk areas at the enterprise level, including: 
    • Key risk indicators/risk metrics
    • Risk appetite statements
    • Facilitate risk tolerance discussions and metric breaches 
  • Support risk monitoring & oversight
    • Participate in ERM working group
    • Participate in Front Line committee meetings for risk oversight
    • Participate in strategic planning for ERM
  • Support risk reporting
    • Board, executive dashboard and reporting
    • Operational loss summary
    • Risk metrics risk appetite breach reporting
  • Support model risk governance - with operational use cases and scenarios to facilitate risk stress testing
  • Support the growth of the risk program in conjunction with the growth of the company

 

What you bring

  • A minimum of 14 years of experience in working in risk management 
  • Expertise in operational risk management in financial markets, including Brokerage and Crypto
  • Experience working with financial industry regulators
  • Experience with anti-fraud practices, internal/online-fraud scenarios
  • Strong expertise in how technical and cyber security impacts and supports operations
  • Strong understanding of Internal Audit practices and ability to understand how to maintain independence in ERM
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders in both technical and non-technical space; ability to explain complex concepts for various audiences, and have superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with executive leadership 
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment with bias to action and driving results

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
