About the team + Role

The Internal Audit function provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls that mitigate current and emerging risks and help strengthen the internal control's ecosystem.

The Internal Audit team at Robinhood provides governance and oversight for the Company and across its regulated entities. The function also facilitates communication of risk management information between the regulated entities’ RHM leadership, and the Company’s Board of Directors and its Committees, strengthening the Company’s risk management, internal controls, and governance.

Robinhood Markets (RHM) is the parent company of various lines of business, including Brokerage, Crypto, and Cash services. We are looking for a Senior Manager to join the Risk & Audit Team at Robinhood.

Quality assurance:

This position is responsible for setting up the quality program, ongoing monitoring, inspecting and proposing measures to enhance the department's deliverables and supporting external quality assessments in order to meet IIA standards. Their day-to-day work involves careful inspections and providing oversight on quality standards. Other essential duties and responsibilities in quality assurance include: troubleshooting quality issues; ensuring compliance with laws and regulations; documenting and rolling out quality guidance; and training and mentoring team members to maintain enhanced quality standards.

Company Board, Management committees and executive reporting:

Own and continuously improve executive management reporting, geared toward the Senior Leadership teams and the Company Board of Directors. Support reporting deliverables toward committees and executive leadership in a timely manner and with a consistent standard. Partner with senior leadership to coordinate and manage the various types of executive reporting, scorecards, performance metrics, and as-needed ad hoc reports. Prepare complex information in a concise and executive-ready manner.

Regulatory and Exam Management activities:

Support the department through the Regulatory and Exam Management activities. The scope of work includes coordination of internal requests (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit) during a variety of regulatory reviews (e.g: FINRA, DFS, SEC, regional regulators). This includes enabling transparency in exam schedules and status, developing metrics and management reporting, managing related initiatives, developing response content, and improving content delivery, communicating overviews via presentations, and preparing stakeholders for executive and regulatory meetings.

What you’ll do

  • Assist Risk and Audit leadership with the development of strategy and departmental OKRs
  • Partner on continuous development and enhancement audit methodology and frameworks related to internal and external quality assurance programs, establish consistent standards for audit execution while ensuring compliance with IIA requirements
  • Be responsible for executive reporting including coordination and development of presentation materials with cross functional leadership teams
  • Be the POC for the Risk and Audit teams during regulatory exams, including managing and preparing responses to regulator requests and preparing meeting presentations and materials
  • Build collaborative and positive relationships with business and cross-functional partners
  • Build partnerships with other organizational lines of defense (i.e. Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, Compliance, etc).
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives that enhance the risk and control environment.
  • Gain product knowledge of Robinhood products, processes, and systems. Stay abreast of current industry standards.

What you bring

  • Passion for Robinhood’s products and our mission to democratize access to global financial systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Legal, Risk Management, or Compliance.
  • 7+ years of experience in an Internal Audit QA function
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role in Legal, Risk Management or Compliance within a large and high growth company that provides financial products and services, and proven experience in project management and leading a group. Knowledge of regulatory matters and related exam experience is a plus
  • Risk management, regulatory and compliance experience in brokerage, crypto currency, trading, and money services/payments
  • Strong demonstrated experience in managing executive reporting; communicating with C-team, Company Board and Regulators, and/ or auditors. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to ensuring that information provided is accurate, complete and to the highest standard
  • Ability to deliver on ad-hoc projects and learn new areas while supporting them.
  • Strong analytical skills, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex business issues.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including by demonstrating excellent time management and planning skills.

Bonus Points

  • Master's degree or certification in a relevant field such as Legal, Compliance and/or Risk Management
  • Experience evaluating the design, effectiveness and regulatory requirements of processes and controls within a bank, broker-dealer, or similar financial institutions
  • CPA, CFA and /or CIA certifications, FINRA Series 7, 24

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
