About the role:
We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our growing accounting team. As the part of the team you will help with building and managing the accounting team and providing technical accounting expertise and guidance for the broader financial close/reporting team, and serving as liaison between the company and auditors.
As an Assistant Controller you’ll:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, in partnership with the Head of Accounting and Finance, to ensure optimization of procedures and processes in place to produce timely and accurate financial information for management and external reporting purposes
Drive the monthly close process; coordinate with other teams to ensure timely recording of transactions and the completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
Manage and coordinate external audit and act as the primary interface with the Company’s auditor firm
Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and Reporting teams on the assessment of complex accounting transactions and the implementation of new accounting policies
Partner with the Head of Accounting and Finance on strategic and operational initiatives to optimize the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the broader accounting function
Some things we consider critical to being an Assistant Controller:
CPA licensed in California with public accounting experience (Big4 is a plus) Industry experience from pre-IPO through IPO experience strongly preferred, fintech experience is a plus
Outstanding technical accounting (IFRS a plus), research and reporting skills
International accounting and intercompany/consolidations and FP&A experience a plus 8+ years of recent financial accounting experience with a consumer, or data driven sector with at least 3+ years in managing and scaling an accounting team
Strong leadership and ability to attract, develop and coach high caliber individuals and teams Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, implementation and maintenance of internal controls, ICOC and broker-dealer specific reporting knowledge is preferred
Strong and broad understanding of business processes and all areas of accounting
