The Sr. Student Career Coach (SCC) for Road to Hire will support the growing College Program. The primary focus of the Sr. SCC is to support Road to Hire (R2H) seniors as they graduate college and prepare to enter the workforce. The Sr. SCC should be motivated by the opportunity to support programming that prepares historically marginalized youth to pursue high-earning careers in STEM and businessThe Sr. SCC will adeptly manage and prioritize projects, work closely with their peers, and manage a small caseload of students. This person will facilitate programming focused on developing college talent for high-earning STEM and Business careers. This role may also include managing 1-2 SCCs.

Ideal candidates will possess a positive, energetic attitude and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in assessing market trends and leveraging industry insights to develop a programmatic workflow tailored to college seniors seeking high-earning roles in STEM and business.

This is a hybrid role based out of our South Charlotte office. The team is in office weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

What You'll Do:

  • Direct Student Support 
    • Provide one-on-one guidance to a caseload of 20-30 college seniors
      • General Model:
        • A high-touch support model of weekly/bi-weekly/monthly meetings with students via Zoom
        • Create and facilitate individualized career development plans aligned to student profiles (ie. GPA, major, skill assessments)
      • Example coaching topics: resume reviews, interview preparation, job search strategies, networking
    • Maintain ongoing communication with all students on caseload
      • Lead 30-minute meetings for approximately 10 students per week virtually at the Road to Hire offices in Fort Mill, SC or other off-site locations throughout the region
      • Respond to all student text/calls/emails within 2 business days
      • Develop individualized communication plans to ensure students remain engaged with the program, meet deadlines, and secure full-time jobs upon graduation
    • Coordinate monthly campus visits to universities that are within driving distance, planning impactful in-person professional development events for your students
  • Caseload & Data Management
    • Track and record student communication and progress in our database, using both quantitative and qualitative measures
      • Ensure that proper documentation of grades and job search progress are completed/submitted by students
      • Enter data into the database within 3 business days of a student interaction or status change
      • Maintain accurate student contact information in the student database
      • Ensure that all students meet institutional and R2H deadlines (e.g. bill submission, grade submission, etc.)
    • Manage scheduling for your assigned caseload, including, but not limited to:
      • Schedule all student meetings on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis dependent on the individual student’s level of need
      • Manage time and calendar to meet minimum number of meetings per week and minimum number of meetings per student per year
      • Align meetings to student process, ensuring adequate progress is being made and driving towards individual student deadlines
  • Programming
    • Work with the Program Manager to identify students gaps and trends in their professional development and career readiness
    • Develop programming to support graduating seniors as they search for and secure jobs
    • Develop programming to support graduating seniors and recent alumni as they start their careers
  • Identify current gaps/opportunities with students and career-related programming and proactively pivot approaches to address needs and present solutions
  • Maintain comprehensive dashboards and data tracking tools to ensure all graduating seniors are accounted for and secure full-time jobs.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in career counseling/coaching, recruiting, and/or employer relations, ideally focused on STEM/Business industries
    • Strong knowledge of career development, professional development and employer recruiting needs
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to quickly build trust with students and team
  • Experience managing a caseload of students
  • Evidence of managing projects end-to-end
  • Strong ability to set deadlines for themselves as well as for projects
  • Passionate about and strongly aligned with Road to Hire’s core beliefs and educational philosophy; excited to create employment opportunities for underserved young adults
  • Accountable team player with exceptional communication skills and strong organizational skills
  • Strong collaborative skills with a desire to work on projects with teammates
  • Strong self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously
  • Desire to work hands-on in a performance-based, analytically-driven, and fast-paced environment while displaying confidence and a professional presence
  • People management experience is a plus

Compensation

  • Compensation Range: $60,000-$65,000
    *Note actual salary is based on qualifications, and experience.
