The RMCI Director of Workforce Development will oversee and lead our construction craft force on projects across the enterprise. This position demands a deep understanding of construction processes, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing craft personnel effectively. Field experience and the ability to manage both small and large crews are essential.

The RMCI Director of Workforce Development will be responsible for managing the needs of the craft workforce, including:

  • Assessment of craft workforce skills
  • Establish and manage workforce training programs
  • Establish and manage accredited workforce apprenticeship programs
  • Collaborate with NOX leadership and project teams to communicate and coordinate craft resource needs.
  • Worksite engagement with craft and project teams, gaining a thorough understanding of the scope of work and resource requirements to ensure the successful completion of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Craft Recruiting & Retention:
    • Assist craft recruiters within NOX Group talent acquisition department in the recruiting process.
    • Develop tactics and strategies to enhance craft recruitment.
    • Increase craft workforce retention through active management of engagement, training, and development.
  2. Craft Training & Performance:
    • Work with the craft workforce development team to identify training gaps and needs.
    • Assist in developing training modules and enabling both on-site and off-site training sessions.
    • Identify potential leadership within the craft workforce and provide development opportunities.
  3. Workforce Skills Assessments
    • Assessing individual craft technical abilities and proficiency in specific tasks to ensure they meet project standards and safety requirements.
    • Establish assessments and performance reviews to identify improvement areas and provide targeted training.
  4. Tool Kit Requirements:
    • Establish requirements for craft tool kits/personal tools for specific projects.
    • Ensure these requirements are communicated with the craft and talent acquisition teams.
  5. NCCER Apprenticeship Program:
    • Establish an NCCER accredited apprenticeship program.
    • Increase the number of NCCER-certified craft workers within the workforce.
  6. Project Planning and Execution:
    • Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to understand project scope, resource requirements, and timelines.
    • Develop construction resource plans and schedules, aligning them with overall project objectives.
  7. Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure work meets industry standards and specifications.
    • Assist Talent Development and Group Quality Departments in maintaining craft certification records.
  8. Resource Management:
    • Efficiently allocate craft personnel based on skills, experience, and project requirements.
    • Optimize resource utilization to meet project deadlines and maintain craft resource curves for current and future projects.
  9. Safety Compliance:
    • Lead by example to promote and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment.
    • Identify gaps in project safety training/programs and ensure all craft workers understand the company’s safety policies and procedures.
  10. Team Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of construction craft workers to ensure high performance and job satisfaction.
    • Provide guidance and support, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
