Responsibilities
- Manage supplier assessments, validation audits, supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP), supplier production part approval process (PPAP), supplier corrective action and associated reporting for program updates.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities (VA/VE), promote the use of Rivian preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks for preferred supplier ranking and supply base management
- Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support the Quality organization to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
- Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
- Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
- Lead the effort of continuous improvement activities at suppliers
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of supplier quality engineering experience
- 5+ years leading a supplier quality engineering organization
- 7+ years’ experience with automotive, manufacturing, or other related industries
- 5+ years experience with seating systems, headliners, interior door trim, carpets
- Expert Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- 5+ years’ experience/certification in VDA 6.3 audit
- Strong Technical expertise of automotive components designs and manufacturing, including knowledge of safety and test requirements and appearance approval process
- Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge
- In depth knowledge of IATF16949:2016 and understanding of ISO14001
- 5+ years MS Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or other related field
- Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- High level of integrity
- Analytical skills to ensure both internal and external requests are fulfilled
- Attention to detail to ensure specifications being requested are received
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
