Role Summary
In this position you will have current and past model responsibility for driving quality improvements in all systems: Body/Chassis/Trim/Propulsion/Low Voltage/High Voltage Systems/Electrical Storage Systems/Automated Driving Systems. You will lead the quality team to reduce warranty as well as sustain and improve vehicle attributes. This will be achieved by clearly defining the Problem Statement, implementing Interim Containment, determining the Root Cause, and verifying that the Permanent Corrective Action truly resolves the issue – partnering with Product Design & Release, Manufacturing, and Suppliers. The Product Excellence Manager will manage and maintain all testing equipment required to root cause issues. The team managed will be comprised of Product Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Team Members.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with multiple groups and teams with diverse backgrounds
• Lead Cross-Functional teams while addressing warranty concerns, productivity bottlenecks, and attribute error states
• Manage a team of product quality engineers, technicians, and team members
• Identify & resolve internal failures and external warranty while developing work streams to resolve top issues
• Report-out improvement status to leadership across the enterprise
• Validate impact of design and process changes to vehicle performance
• Drive structure problem solving using the Rivian 5 principles
• Warranty returns management first level triage leadership
• Support field actions to protect our customers from quality concern

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position
• Technical understanding of vehicle systems including Body, Chassis, Trim, Driveline, Thermal System, Low Voltage, and High Voltage systems
• Incredible interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others that are not within your direct reporting relationship · 3-9 years of automotive experience with a combination of product development, manufacturing, program management, and quality preferred
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
• Great communication skills
• 6 Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt preferred
• Fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation and implementation of standards and requirements
• Demonstrated ability to plan, control and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles
• Experience in acquiring and analyzing data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements
