This is what you’ll do:

  • Coordinate with the Industrial Design and Engineering teams to design and manufacture visually appealing, functional and cutting edge energy products
  • Translate the Industrial Design team’s vision into manufacturable products at the highest level of execution
  • Leading the CAD design of all customer facing surfaces and components
  • Lead the design verification and validation of all customer facing surfaces and components
  • Develop component specifications and work with suppliers and Rivian manufacturing engineering
  • Generate detailed 2D drawings
  • Maintain and release BOMs in the company wide PLM system
  • Implement DFM feedback from manufacturing teams
  • Support manufacturing, internal and contract, for prototype and production builds

this is what you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering of consumer facing products and surfaces
  • Significant sheet metal experience. Design, material selection and manufacturing
  • Significant design experience with plastic injection molding. Welding, stamping, punching, cutting and casting experience is a plus
  • High level of skill in 3D modeling (CATIA preferred)
  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with ground up requirements definition and supplier management
  • Experience designing and releasing parts and systems according to a new product introduction process that includes lifecycle management (Enovia PLM preferred), FMEAs, standards for drawings and defined milestones
  • Previous experience with energy storage systems is a plus
  • At least a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
