Role Summary
In the role of Functional Safety Engineer – Production & Service, you will be responsible for sustaining the integrity of the safety case of a vehicle program - from the end of development all the way through to end of life for that program. In this role you will:
Responsibilities

Support developing the functional safety process for production:
-
Identifying the functional safety items within Rivian’s vehicle production process
-
Modifying the current vehicle production process to include functional safety
-
Maintaining current and future vehicle production process changes to adhere to functional safety
-

Represent functional safety at the process change review board reviews
-
Analyzing potential changes to processes to determine impact to functional safety
-
Working with process leaders to derive appropriate changes to the process that mitigate risks to functional safety

Ensure in-line production metrics are constantly monitored and any deviations analyzed to determine the impact to functional safety
-
Analyze the impact of functional safety as it pertains to tool installation, tool maintenance schedules and procedures, and derive corrective actions to mitigate functional safety risk

Ensure in-line test equipment and testing align with functional safety requirements and any deviation in test results are analyzed for impact to functional safety and a corrective action put in place

Work alongside the Functional Safety development teams to ensure transfer of functional safety knowledge from the vehicle development phase to the production phase

Support developing functional safety process for vehicle servicing

Ensure servicing metrics are constantly monitored and any deviation analyzed to determine the impact to functional safety
Qualifications

In order to execute the role, you will be expected to have
-
Degree education in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical (or similar)
-
Over 5 years of experience within the automotive industry, ideally OEM or Tier 1 working within functional safety
-
Proven knowledge of ISO 26262 and experience applying within an OEM or Tier 1, ideally in Part 7

Experience in automotive production

Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity

Experience working within a cross-functional team leading indirect reports
-
Good working knowledge of vehicle system functionality and electro/mechanical control strategy

Ability to report to senior management and report accurate information in a clear and concise manner
