Responsibilities
- Lead the application of finishing layers to exceed requirements for structure and color harmony
- Lead efforts for material qualification
- Ensure dual source approvals for all materials
- Ensure the corrosion guarantee to our customers in met
- Utilize only the amount of materials required to produce a quality unit. Not one drop more
- Understand the manufacturing plan and ensure we stay in front of it with equipment and materials
- Design, procure, and commission advanced manufacturing concepts to meet the business plan
- Understand where our environmental footprint and constantly strive for improvement for future generations
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice processes. Vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operational activities
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance
- Develop in-house systems and procedures to meet the needs of external customers
- Designing and costing mechanical, process and electrical equipment for a Paint shop
- Designing and costing facilities and utilities infrastructure for a Paint shop
- Creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
- Utilizing overall project management tools including detailed schedules and budgeting
- Transitioning products from prototype to production desired
- Utilizing statistical process control (SPC)
- Designing and optimizing the software and hardware stack used in a Paint shop
Experience in the following:
- Detailed knowledge of high volume, high quality assembly processes
- Leading major modifications of existing production equipment
- Introducing new products and new processes into a production environment
- Root causing quality defects & developing solutions to resolve
- Designing for manufacturability
- Interfacing with manufacturing execution system software (MES)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Previous experience in role leading multiple groups of professionals
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Solidly organized, with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience in 3D parametric CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Catia) and 2D layout software (e.g. AutoCAD)
- Respond to quality issues by putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns in new customer contracts
- Ensure that plant schedule for vehicle builds is fulfilled by operation deliverables
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate
- Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation
- Report against agreed quality metrics
- In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Assurance function, reduce the effect of non-conforming supplier materials on the production area quality
- Produce written reports and make presentations
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
- Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
- Help set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports

Qualifications
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of combined career experience as a leader of engineers, as a manager of engineering projects, and as a hands-on industrial/manufacturing/process engineer working on Paint manufacturing processes and/or equipment
- Cross-functional operations in a manufacturing setting
- Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
- Creative problem-solving skills
