Role Summary:
The Information Technology org at Rivian is seeking a Sr. Data Warehouse Architect to join the Data Services team who can provide leadership in working with both technical and business executives in the design and architecture of the AWS Cloud Data Platform as a critical component of their enterprise data architecture and overall ecosystem.
In this role you will work with Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, Product Management, and Technology Partners to leverage best practices and reference architectures highlighting AWS Cloud Data Platform as a core technology enabling advanced analytics and data science throughout the company.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, architect, design and develop secure, scalable, high-performance and reliable (cost effective) big data and analytics platform software and services
- Translate big data and analytics user requirements into data models for (Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering and Manufacturing) that will operate at large scale and high performance and guide the data analytics engineers on these data models.
- Define, deploy and advance processes for: SDC, CI/CD, quality checks, error handling, error notifications, security, extensibility and maintainability of big data and analytics platform software and services
- Define templates and process for the design and analysis of data models, data flows, and integration patterns for structural deficiencies/soundness to build a robust and complete future state model
- Lead by example to review code, look for design breaches, provide meaningful and relevant feedback to engineers, stay up-to-date with system changes and latest technologies
- Comfortably present and acquire consensus using multiple methods: Written diagrams and text, in-person meetings, in-person and remote presentations to both technical and business audiences
- Provide technical leadership to software developers, data scientists/engineers, and product owners/managers through brainstorming sessions, design reviews, and retrospectives.
- Own the data management technical roadmap and execution aligning with peer platform organizations and product delivery, Ensure alignment with over-arching enterprise platform initiatives
- Lead and mentor Rivian’s Data Analytics team members in best practices, processes and technologies in Data platforms
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to break down complex technical problems into simple elegant solutions understandable by non-technical business partners.
- 15-20 years of hands-on IT experience in Data Warehouse, ETL & Reporting. Extensive experience of executing multiple data warehouse projects in variety of business domain
- 10+ years of experience in understanding variety of complex business use cases and modelling the data in the data warehouse. Very strong understanding of core data warehouse concepts.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in productionizing and deploying Big Data platforms and applications, Hands-on experience working with: Relational/SQL, distributed columnar data stores/NoSQL databases, graph databases, timeseries databases, NiFi, Spark streaming, Kafka, Hive, Impala, Avro, and more
- 5+ years of deep experience in design and development in AWS Redshift
- Skilled in Python, Spark. Hands-on experience with AWS Services like S3, Glue, Kinesis, Lambdas
- Hands-on experience with Airflow and Tableau.
- Proven experience in building a Custom Enterprise Data Warehouse or implementing tools like Oracle BI Applications/ Oracle Financial Analytics/OBIA. 2-3 end-to-end implementation
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain and Financials business processes like Order Bookings, Invoicing/Billings, Forecasting, Demand Planning, Financial Planning. Purchasing, Payables etc.
