THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Develop algorithms and controllers in an embedded-C environment for Vehicle Charging and Low Voltage Energy Management (DCDC Control, On-board charging, Vehicle-to-Home Power Export)
- Develop Rivian’s in-house charging stack from ground-up to enable class-leading charging experience

Lead code reviews during development sprints. Provide technical feedback and mentorship to the team

Contribute to system design reviews for new features on existing and future vehicle architectures

Define software architecture that enables scale and portability across multiple platforms

Support evaluation of hardware to enable software development

Work with cross-functional teams to define vehicle-wide functions, develop and integrate the software

Develop embedded test code for testing, using either a virtualized SIL or physical HIL system

Support technical meetings with team members and management to discuss software architecture, feature requests, and code reviews
THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
-
Bachelor or Masters or PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering or similar discipline
-
5+ years experience with embedded programming in C or C++ , with a solid understanding of embedded systems, troubleshooting techniques and strategies

Experience developing automotive grade production software or other safety critical systems

Experience developing SIL or/and HIL tests

General understanding of OSI model layers, including protocols such as UDP, TCP, SLAC

Strong first principles foundation

A highly curious mind
ADDITIONAL PREFFERED SKILLS:
-
Background in High Voltage Automotive Systems, Physics, Mechatronics, Charging, and Low Voltage systems

Experience with Formula SAE, Formula SAE Electric, or EcoCAR
-
Familiarity with charging protocols such as J1772, ISO 15118, PLC
-
Experience in using a Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, Nucleus, etc.

Experience or exposure to ISO 26262 or other functional safety development processes (DO-178)
-
Experience with Vector tools such as CANalyzer, CANOE, etc
-
Scripting experience with languages such as Python
