Role Summary
This position will help solve some of the most challenging and relevant environmental issues by influencing how Rivian approaches and inspires a mindset shift to maximize environmental and social impact in our communities.

Responsibilities
·Utilize your big picture and systems thinking skills to design an internal and external engagement strategy related to sustainability, circularity, and carbon neutrality
·Influence how organizations (starting with Rivian) take action and inspire others to take sustainability efforts to the next level in order to maximize social impact
·Scope research, recruit participants, lead fieldwork, conduct interviews, lead synthesis, and communicate findings internally and externally
·Synthesize existing quantitative data that underlies the most robust research on carbon footprint and sustainability as related to communities, end users, and public opinion
·Engage your storytelling skills to connect sustainability projects and roadmaps to the broader Rivian sustainability narrative
·Collaborate with the Rivian Communications team to keep all employees engaged and informed
·Connect research themes to implementation by collaborating and integrating findings into roadmaps
·Inspire others by creating content to document and bring to life insights and impact themes

Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
·A passion for sustainability and our environment
·5+ years related experience in systems design (big picture thinking), user research, and inspiring action
·Ability to succeed and thrive as a “team of one” while collaborating with internal, science-based environmental experts and leveraging designers working in other areas of the organization
·Ability to shape and lead strategic, systems thinking based upon insights gathered through research
·Ability to identify “next steps” independently and execute on a plan with significant autonomy
·Experience driving change within a dynamic and quickly growing organization
·Exceptional communication and storytelling skills; fluency and confidence in inspiring teammates and partners with user-driven rationale through a variety of mediums: in-person events, virtual settings, digitally (Figma, PPT, etc.) or in writing
·Experience using technology and digital methods to uncover needs (e.g.: experience conducting online ethnography and implementing remote user studies
·Ability to consider the bigger picture and possess the willingness to get into the specifics when needed
·Strong interpersonal skills, resiliency, and ability to transition quickly from key influencer to confident decision maker
·Ability to have impactful conversations that educate stakeholders and influence cross-functional teams
·Highly motivated self-starter and constructive team-player with the ability to work efficiently, exercising a balance between research rigor and speed
