The Senior Construction Project Manager (MEP) works closely with the Real Estate, Design, Operations and Purchasing managers and shall lead production facilities construction projects to ensure all financial, administrative, contractual, and technical aspects of multiple projects are being executed, as required. Facilities associated with this role are production related with specific focus on the central mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) supply, distribution, and control systems.
The primary function of the Senior Construction Project Manager (MEP) is to provide construction-related services and report to the Senior Manager or Senior Project Manager. The Senior Construction Project Manager is the primary contact for each assigned project and works adjacent to the Project Design & Architecture, Operations, and Security Managers, as well as other production focused PMs.
- Develop work plans and overseeing performance of general contractors, and occasionally directly to trade subcontractors and/or vendors
- Oversee the work for compliance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall conformance with the contract documents
- Project responsibility covers from concept (via Operations/Real Estate senior managers), design, construction, and operations (warranty & maintenance)
- Create contractor and vendor RFP documents (scope narratives, schedules, etc.), attend job walks and selection/award review meetings
- Establish and/or review contract documents and manage procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations
- Coordinate activities with other Rivian staff, departments, and public agencies
- Resolve field construction problems in coordination with engineering staff, third parties, and other agencies as necessary
- Chair progress meetings, complete status reports, and deliver presentations, as required
- Recommend policy and procedure improvements
- Assist in negotiating with contractors regarding changes to design, construction work scope, and schedules
- Support a quality audit program, oversee contractor corrective actions, and ensure a quality project conforming to plans and specifications
- Monitor and/or resolve claims, suggest ways to mitigate impacts, and develop workarounds
- Support Rivian safety vision and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Lead projects “the Rivian way,” providing professional influence on the work exemplifying respect, leadership, commitment, vision and teamwork.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, is preferred, or similar number of years of experience in the field; and a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing construction projects of similar size and complexity. Direct work experience on projects with a high level or volume of MEP infrastructure such as production, manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, and data center is strongly preferred.
The physical demands associated with the duties and responsibilities described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job. This includes ability to spend extended hours walking construction sites and traveling to different project sites and offices.
The work environment described herein is representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. The Senior Construction Manager will be based at a regional office, visit job site locations and attend meetings at multiple offices. Exposure to outdoors, dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather is likely. Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory.
