Work with the Safety Structures engineering team on structural development of Rivian vehicles for crashworthiness.
Setting up excel templates for calculations required to set targets for front, side, and rear impact crumple zones. Similarly, setup calculations in excel to assess peak and average crush forces, and bending capacity calculations based on various sections
Correlating coupon and component level tests to improve prediction capability of simulations
Setting up, debugging, and solving crash simulations using finite element methods to provide root cause analysis as well as design solutions
Collaborating with key stakeholders to present analyses to the wider teams through clear and detailed reports
· Pursuing a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus towards vehicle structure
· Strong understanding of structural mechanics
· Basic understanding of simulation tools to set up, solve, and debug simulations
· Experience with basic functionality of LS-DYNA, LS-PrePost, ANSA/META, Hypermesh/Hyperview
· FSAE or similar experience preferred
Proven track record of independent root cause analysis and problem solving
· Ability to work in a fast-paced program with a diverse team
