We operate development centers in Plymouth, Michigan; Southern California (Irvine, Carson & LA); Silicon Valley (San Jose and Palo Alto); Vancouver, British Columbia; and Surrey, England; as well as a manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.
This is what you’ll do:· Coordinates engineering changes assist manufacturing in continuous process improvement and troubleshooting problems with production processes and new program launches.· Coordinates and tracks the launch of new programs in the assigned areas.· Develop employee certification programs for team leaders.· Provide analytical and reliable assessments to recommend changes and develop quantitative and qualitative analyses of current and proposed states.· Confer with management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations.· Effectively implement recommendations through well-developed implementation programs and audit accordingly.· Improve effectiveness of work order and task management in production environments.· Reviews, interprets and summarizes statistical data.· Determine the ‘Best Practice’ process approach of material, tooling, equipment and labor process.· Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions.· Develop work instructions, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure manufacturing process is being followed· Work with design engineering team to develop and establish a design that lends itself to high production while ensuring built in high quality during the manufacturing process· Participate in product and packaging reviews to evaluate process impact and provide feedback on build sequence, process time analysis, and investment requirements· Perform time analysis using a standard motion time system (MODAPTS), estimate production times, staffing requirements, and costs· Investigate assembly issues and implement solution by reviewing product design, process sequence plan, and builds affecting production and work during stages of New Product Launch - Null Series (Virtual Builds), Production Trials, and SOP using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach· Co-ordinate with team to determine and introduce optimum plant layout, equipment, tooling, and racking in General Assembly to achieve maximum efficiency· Participates in department meetings.· Completes documentation of activities as required.· Develops and / or reviews production procedures.· Performs other tasks as assigned.This is what you’ll need:· B.S degree in engineering discipline· Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma etc experience is a plus.· Preferred 3 - 4 years engineering experience in a high volume manufacturing operation, preferably automotive.
