Role Summary
In this position you will be responsible for the electrical design, physical implementation, and delivery in volume of an automotive electrical control unit, including critical vehicle systems, and non-critical vehicle systems to automotive requirements. The candidate that will succeed in this position will have multi-domain knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and software design, and be able to work and drive progress with technical experts in each vehicle domain. You will work up and down the v-design cycle from system design, component design and test, to vehicle integration, and sustainment. You will lead a team of electrical engineers and support and guide engineering resources through the complete design process.
Responsibilities

Constantly drive and maintain Rivian work culture throughout the organization

Lead the engineering teams to make architectural balances within the vehicle to optimize for cost and weight.

Drive the definition, design, and delivery of high performance/high reliability electronics, including schematic capture and layout design, plus review of work.

Deeply tie electrical, mechanical, and software domains to deliver wholistic solutions.

Own the design process and produce requirements, schematics, layouts, DFMEA, WCCA, and other critical design documents.

Provide Electrical Subject Matter support in the field of electrical engineering and systems integration to teams

Work with suppliers to specify requirements and deliver components to cost, weight, and timing.

Be responsible for the launch of products from LRIP to volume production.

Support the design process.

Support other engineers in their deliveries

Develop and lead a technical team as needed to support and deliver above activities.

Work in multidisciplinary teams and drive product and engineering excellence

Manage product deliveries and drive design decisions to meet deliveries timelines

Review technical work and provide technical direction for all levels of engineering.

Provide guidance to engineers on all aspects of engineering.
Qualifications
-
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
-
15+ yrs of delivering complex electronics
-
4+ yrs of leadership experience
-
Familiar with high speed, high power design rules

Excellence in high reliability and safety critical systems.

Technical excellence in Functional Safety and work product delivery

Experience developing and leading other multidisciplinary engineers

Understanding of Engineering Work flows and process

Excellent communication skills across all functions and levels

Excellent documentation practices

Self starter and hands-on lab skills

Fluent written and spoken English

Work remotely with engineers across all sites to drive progress and clear road blocks.
