Riverside Research is a leading research organization involved in multiple state of the art fields including defense, telecommunications, and medical research, with a history of innovation. We are looking for a full-time FPGA Design / RFSoc Engineer as part of an Independent Research and Development (IRAD) team in our Beavercreek, OH research facility. The successful candidate will be a part of a multidisciplinary team that is developing new technologies that would allow higher levels of Timing precision.
This is an exciting area of research with multiple applications including defense, space communications, radio astronomy, and industrial and financial control systems. You will be part of a team of RF engineers, advanced signal, system and circuit modelers and designers, and advanced embedded / FPGA systems developers. You will be involved with work on complex waveforms and GPS and GNSS satellite systems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop block diagrams with advanced RFSoC and FPGA designs to perform signal processing, clock and data recovery and clock synchronization functions associated with Precision Time Synchronization between multiple bodies in motion.
- Evaluate FPGAs and RFSoC’s to select and build Software Defined Radio (SDR) based clock synchronization designs
- Test and troubleshoot existing FPGA based designs to achieve higher performance and functionality
- Interact with hardware and software engineers on the team to create high performance high TRL level solutions
- Familiar with implementing signal processing algorithms in both embedded software and HDL
- Test and document performance
- Create technical reports, papers, presentations, and proposals
- Communicate and integrate with a team of driven professionals
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise with FPGA, XILINX, Vivado, VITIS, and HDL development.
- Demonstrated ability to create solutions with significant DSP content
- Master’s degree (Ph.D. path preferred) in electrical engineering OR Bachelor’s degree with relevant years of proven experience and knowledge of system fundamentals
- 3+ years of demonstrated success in developing complex RFSoCs/FPGAs
- Knowledge and experience with test and measurement instrumentation and software
- Knowledge and experience in ATE instrument interfaces and SPI
- Ability to communicate within a team and externally to a variety of stakeholders to include presenting progress and updates
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge or experience in Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) technology and Networking
- Knowledge or experience in Transmit-Receive chains
