As an Engineering Portfolio Lead at Rise8, you will:
- Identify the right product initiatives and gain stakeholder alignment on goals, success criteria, and scope
- Maintain a healthy and transparent backlog of project work
- Ensure initiatives focus on delivering business value to reduce waste before kickoff
- Allocate talent and teams to the appropriate initiatives to maximize their impact while balancing growth opportunities and maintaining product reliability
- Facilitate and train others on key product kickoff and alignment ceremonies (D&F, Inception)
- Grow the practice and excellence of the Client Way product methodologies works for my organization’s environment
- Keep ongoing alignment and transparency by facilitating and promoting frequent and quality team<>stakeholder communication
- Foster practice innovation within the teams so the practice can grow and respond to change
- Improve team performance by working with teams to assess health and coach for improvement
- Ensure product teams can continuously deliver value by ensuring they have access to platform, automated CI/CD tooling, and a clear path to production
- Raise and advocate teams’ platform requests to the appropriate ops teams
- Promote, educate, and demonstrate to colleagues the value of cloud native development to grow my practice’s influence
- Ensure teams can easily support their applications through access to production
Qualifications
Qualifications for Engineering Portfolio Lead
- Minimum 10 years of experience supporting data engineering, systems architecture, and systems engineering environments using technologies such as SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra), Hadoop, Spark, and Redshift.
- Minimum 4 years of experience leading project teams or Portfolio lead experience
- Strong background in data engineering, systems architecture, and systems engineering principles with a commitment to staying updated with industry trends and tools such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience in evaluating engineers, creating skills matrices, and driving talent development while successfully managing engineering teams, offering technical guidance, and fostering innovation with tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including experience with microservices architecture (Spring Boot, Istio) and APIs (REST, GraphQL).
- Ability to formulate and execute a technical strategy aligning with business goals, leveraging CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience in guiding engineering practices, especially pair programming, alongside excellent communication skills crucial for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance
- Possession of certifications from major cloud providers such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management, with comparable industry experience, showcasing a strong academic and practical foundation.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, reflecting a versatile skill set and adaptability.
- Strong combination of software engineering and DevOps experience, enabling effective support across various technical domains.
Salary
The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $156,696 - $235,044 regardless of final candidate location within the United States. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.

- Home Office Budget: $750 annually for home office expenses including furniture and/or technology equipment
