As a senior engineering leader at Ridgeline, you will lead the engineering effort for a key area of the Ridgeline platform, form and preserve our culture, and influence the trajectory of an ambitious tech startup. We aim to be the industry cloud platform for investment management.

In this role you will work closely with Engineering, Product Management and Strategy teams to define and drive the vision to build multiple data transformation, loading and two-way integration services as a core part of the Ridgeline system. The objectives are to 1) address continuously changing, high volumes of complex data while ensuring accuracy, security and reliability, 2) accelerate our customers’ movement of their core business onto Ridgeline, and 3) establish a best-in-class enterprise API strategy. This position reports to Ridgeline’s VP of Platform.

What will you do?

  • Contribute business insight, technical expertise and acumen, and best practices to the cloud platform, data and integration teams where design, strategy, product management, and engineering collaborate closely
  • Guide technology decisions for a data orchestration engine that accepts inbound data files of many types to tie the Ridgeline platform and applications into the investment management ecosystem
  • Deliver an integrations service that enables custom and reusable interfaces to popular 3rd party systems in the asset management industry with common integration infrastructure
  • Take into account all users and use cases of the data and integration services when making key product and technical decisions
  • Have end-to-end responsibility for technical facets and flow of data in a complex system, including the product, infrastructure, security and quality
  • Coach, mentor, and manage multiple teams of engineers that are responsible for delivering a high performing, secure enterprise data and integrations service
  • Provide leadership for the entire software development process:  from requirements and design reviews to technology selection and implementation through delivery and support in production
  • Engage in career and performance conversations that align business objectives, key results and career goals
  • Leveraging organizational design methodology, manage resource allocations for product engineers and track completion of deliverables for each team
  • Impact a developing tech stack based on modern front-end frameworks and cost-efficient utilization of AWS back-end services
  • Build a diverse technical team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment
  • Ensure close relationships in a multi-location organization, connecting our product and engineering teams

Functional Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and experience developing and/or utilizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), integration and cloud data migration technologies
  • Experience with investment management applications, accounting and performance data
  • Experience with complex data problems and near real-time delivery of changing data
  • Understanding for how to instantly validate data change, receipt of data files and delivery of data messages
  • Accustomed to working in industries with regulatory and compliance requirements including maintaining reliability and consistency of historical data

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years in a software engineering or architecture, and a management position leading people, with experience supporting both managers and individual contributors
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of python, GraphQL and related modern cloud development technologies
  • A history of architecting and designing large data volume products and technologies in the cloud
  • Data science, machine learning experience a plus
  • Engages with stakeholders to understand the business problems that need to be solved with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience supporting both managers and individual contributors and an ability to keep a pulse on people throughout a complex and fast paced organization
  • Clear and crisp communicator
  • Ability to lead and influence both with and without authority
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns
  • Ability to focus on short-term deliverables while maintaining a big-picture perspective
  • An aptitude for problem-solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Experience recruiting, evaluating talent, and building software development teams

Compensation and Benefits

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

The typical starting salary range for this role is: $235,000-$275,000

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $250,000-$287,500

Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
