Here at Ridgeline, engineering teams create performant and reliable infrastructure for a cutting-edge enterprise software company. As Ridgeline’s Director, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you would be responsible for leading teams like this and driving Ridgeline forward.

In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build a culture of reliability from the ground up. You will focus on establishing end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services to our investment management customers and implementation partners. Our team moves fast, and you will too as you create a culture anchored on progressive automation and scaling best practices that continually evolve with serverless architecture. Furthermore, you will serve as an ambassador for performance and reliability standards across Ridgeline by partnering with teams like Product & Platform Engineering, PMO, Security, Professional Services, and Customer Support. This role will report directly to the VP of Products & Engineering.

What will you do?

  • Build and lead a team of engineers providing vision and strategic leadership while ensuring our platform’s availability, reliability, scalability, fault tolerance and performance
  • Partner with our development teams to help them build reliable and scalable services, and resolve any production issues as quickly as possible
  • Ensure SRE provides a quality service across all functional areas, including the set up and continuous monitoring of KPIs and metrics pertaining to team performance
  • Continue development of the Ridgeline tech stack powered by serverless, modern front-end frameworks and cost-effective utilization of AWS infrastructure
  • Work across several products and teams to build frameworks, tooling, and utilities to streamline operational efficiency via effective release management
  • Engage in performance conversations and align team members to business objectives and career goals
  • Contribute to a cross-functional and collaborative environment deeply rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency
  • Build pipeline, hire, and onboard talented engineers in distributed team structure
  • Manage resource allocations for the team across projects & operations
  • Stay abreast of the latest SRE methodologies, and adopt the appropriate ones
  • Be part of a data-driven organization, utilizing the information available to make informed infrastructure and engineering decisions for our customers

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years experience building and managing distributed SRE, or Performance teams
  • 5+ years experience in a development operations role or similar function, with a track record of building, maintaining, and launching new offerings on AWS
  • Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining multi-tenant architectures
  • Ability to partner effectively with colleagues from Product Engineering, Product Management, Design, Security, and QA
  • Experience fulfilling SOC2 compliance requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • A proclivity for being self-motivated and a strong collaborator, with the ability to manage expectations and conflicting needs
  • Ability to balance empathy with the customer with the needs of the business and technology
  • Serious interest in having fun at work

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with common CI/CD tools: CodePipeline and CodeBuild, Jenkins, Git, Chef, Cloud Formation, Terraform
  • Comfortable working with Slack, JIRA/Confluence, AWS, Invision, or Github
  • Certifications in AWS and Linux
  • Experience working with operations teams in the financial services industry
  • Experience designing and launching enterprise applications with agile development methodologies
