The Role

In the role of Healthcare Content Analyst, you will interpret and apply various healthcare policies including CMS, CPT/AMA, and other significant payer protocols, focusing on correct coding and regulatory standards. Your insights will prevent overpayments by developing automated software rules or edits, taking them from ideation through their life cycle. This role will have you collaborate with leading minds in healthcare technology to enhance payment accuracy across multiple platforms.

What We Are Looking For

Technical

  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience creating and running SQL query searches both independently and based on stakeholder requests
  • Proven ability to independently build trend analysis tooling (tableau/excel)
  • Proficiency in using statistics/statistical analysis to find patterns and trends in loosely structured data
  • Ability to manage and organize large and varied data sets using database management systems (AWS)
  • Proven ability to present a coherent story or advocate a narrative about findings to stakeholders using reports
  • Ability to quickly learn business-specific software (e.g., project management, document creation)

Business Domain

  • Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid claims editing rules from government sources such as the National Correct Coding Initiative, Fee Schedules, Local Coverage Articles, and National Coverage Determinations
  • Background in healthcare coding/billing
  • Knowledge of medical coding claim forms such as the CMS 1500 and UB04 
  • Understanding of clinical and coding guidelines from Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial plans
  • Understand payment accuracy clinical and medical coding edits and medical code sets (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, NDCs)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Worked for a Payment Accuracy claims editing vendor or payer system
  • Medical coding/billing certification from AAPC, AHIMA, or other body, equivalent medical coding/billing college degree, and/or clinical degree
