W are looking for a Manager – ESG/Sustainability Reporting to lead data collection and reporting activities for ESG (“Environmental, Social & Governance”) initiatives aligned with Rexford’s long-term ESG goals. As a key member of the Rexford Industrial ESG team, reporting to the Snr Director, ESG, this newly created role will be responsible for managing and enhancing ESG reporting.

The most successful person will have previous experience working in sustainability/ESG at a real estate organization and applied knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and leading Sustainability surveys and reporting frameworks. They will apply their strong organizational skills and background in data management to ensure Rexford’s sustainability performance reporting is accurate, efficient and timely. They will work in an integrated and collaborative manner with cross-functional teams throughout the Rexford organization to support ESG initiatives (Design and Construction, Property Management, Leasing, Legal and Acquisitions, Finance and Accounting) as well as with external partners.

Manager – ESG/Sustainability Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Work with key internal and external partners to ensure required data is extracted, validated and analyzed on a regular basis, and Rexford’s annual GHG Inventory is compiled and externally assured
  • Coordinate the preparation and timely completion of Rexford’s annual ESG reporting, ensuring compliance with the requirements of leading surveys and frameworks (e.g., GRESB, GRI, CDP, TCFD, SASB)
  • Oversee the management and enhancement of data reporting systems, processes, and procedures, engaging all relevant departments to clarify responsibilities and support data governance and controls
  • Review and interpret data and reports summarized by ESG firms and rating agencies, partner with firms/agencies to update and ensure accuracy of data reported
  • Stay abreast of emerging ESG trends, regulations, and reporting frameworks, benchmark practices and conduct gap analyses to recommend improvements that evolve the organization's ESG reporting and disclosure practices
  • Interpret, analyze, and enhance sustainability metrics such as energy consumption, embodied carbon, and the impact of sustainability-related projects
  • Develop analytical tools to provide informed decision-making capability to the business and innovative ways to communicate sustainability-related data and trends
  • Support the implementation of Rexford’s Science Based Targets Transition Plan (i.e., coordinate data driven decisions and plans, and monitor and quantify the success of implemented initiatives)

Manager – ESG/Sustainability Reporting Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, finance / economics, business, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education, preferably in a real estate organization and/or ESG/sustainability-related role
  • Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel, sustainability management software, and ESG data platforms
  • Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies, benchmarking, and industry-specific ESG issues
  • Understanding of financial analysis, materiality assessments, and integration of ESG metrics into strategies and decisions
  • Excellent project management skills to handle multiple stakeholders, numerous reporting initiatives, meet deadlines, and ensure data accuracy and integrity

 Manager – ESG/Sustainability Reporting Soft Skills:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to create compelling presentations and convey complex and innovative concepts to diverse sets of stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets to ensure accuracy and reliability in ESG reporting
  • Collaborative mindset to work across departments and functions, fostering a culture of ESG integration and continuous improvement
  • Self-starter with positive attitude and ability to multi-task in a high work volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ethical and values-driven approach, demonstrating a passion for sustainability and making a positive impact

Compensation

Rexford Industrial's total reward plan includes a premier benefits package, bonus eligibility, and long-term stock incentives. The expected annual base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000, with a 20% discretionary annual bonus target and stock grant eligibility.*The actual base salary and total compensation offered depend on a variety of factors, which include, without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location where the job will be performed. The final base salary and total compensation will be described in any offer letter.

*These stock grants are subject to approval by the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, are currently subject to vesting over a four-year period, with 25% of the grant vesting per year, and require continued employment on the grant date and each applicable vesting date. Actual bonus and stock grants are discretionary based on company and/or individual performance determined by Rexford Industrial in its sole discretion, and the amount of any such bonus and/or stock grant may be less or more than the targets (and may be zero).
