Senior Director, ESG
The Senior Director, ESG will lead the Rexford Industrial ESG team and report to the EVP, Development & Construction, working with the CFO. You will develop the ESG strategy and initiatives and ensure that such initiatives are aligned with Rexford's business strategies and operational objectives. You will collaborate with senior leadership, and work with teams, specifically; Asset Management, Finance, Design and construction, Property Management, Leasing, Legal, and Investments. This is an engaged manager role and will also have two direct reports (a Director, ESG Reporting, and a Data Analyst, ESG).

About The Role
Leadership
- Drive ESG strategy across the organization including the implementation of initiatives to achieve Science-Based Targets (SBTi).
- Lead the Rexford ESG committee, ensuring engagement and collaboration.
- Provide periodic ESG updates to the C-suite and Board.
- Use technical and leadership expertise elevating the focus on ESG programs and planning integration across the company.
- Improve ESG disclosures, rankings, and ratings, and response to ESG inquiries.
- Support employee engagement efforts related to ESG with regular communication via all-hands, town halls, and educational sessions for all employees. Create interactive engagement opportunities on ESG for employees.
- Engage with external partner groups, representing Rexford's ESG program with investors and in public forums and industry events.
Reporting
- Lead a team of company partners and external consultants to develop and publish annual reporting including but not limited to the Sustainability GRI Report, GRESB, S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (understanding of Dow Jones Sustainability Index), SASB disclosure and Green Bond Reporting, and help develop ESG contents in our core public documents including the Annual Report, 10-K, Proxy and Investor Presentations all specifically related to ESG reporting and content.
- Continue to develop and market a more holistic strategy around ESGi specific to Rexford's differentiated business model.
- Develop processes to monitor ongoing progress against our overall ESG goals.
- Build thoughtful reporting and presentations that demonstrate results and earn executive buy-in and alignment around near and long-term projects.
Research & Knowledge
- Monitor relevant changes to ESG laws.
- Stay on top of updates to reporting frameworks.
- Understand ESG trends affecting the REIT industry.
Execution
- Collaborate with important departments to obtain data and achieve agreed metrics across ESG measures, ensuring operational ESG initiatives are performed following our goals.
- Implement all annual ESG goals.
- Develop standards, policies, best practices, and SOPs.
- Study and institute applicable carbon neutrality programs.
About You
- At least 15+ years of related working experience in a real estate organization (preferably REIT) with a minimum of 10 years in ESG in a business setting.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Working knowledge of global/industry ESG trends and their application in industrial real estate.
- Experience analyzing building utility data, spotting trends, and making suggestions for energy efficiency projects.
- Exposure to the following- SBTi, GRI, CDP, TCFD, SASB, ENERGY STAR, GRESB, LEED, Green Bonds, UNGC, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Demonstrated examples in monitoring UNSDG's and TCFD commitments.
- Broad knowledge of ESG in a business context including ESG reporting, life cycle assessment, Science-based Targets, sustainable building, and sustainable financing.
- Educate and inspire people into action.
- Process-focused with the ability to project manage and team manage.
- Deliver high-quality work in tight timeframes.
Compensation
Rexford Industrial's total reward plan includes a premier benefits package, bonus eligibility, and long-term stock incentives. The expected annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $240,000, with a 30% discretionary annual bonus target and stock grant eligibility.*The actual base salary and total compensation offered depend on a variety of factors, which include, without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location where the job will be performed. The final base salary and total compensation will be described in any offer letter.

*These stock grants are subject to approval by the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, are currently subject to vesting over a four-year period, with 25% of the grant vesting per year, and require continued employment on the grant date and each applicable vesting date.
