Revel’s EV Infrastructure group is currently seeking an Sr. Design Manager to join our growing team. The position is based out of our Brooklyn, NY office, but location can be flexible with a hybrid schedule. All candidates must reside and have the ability to work in the United States.
Position Overview:
Revel continues to accelerate the transition to a carbon free transportation future by enabling EV mobility in urban cores. The development group, within the infrastructure team, focuses on the design and construction of DC Fast Charging for public use as well as our ride-hail fleet operations.
This position will play a key role in developing the electric fueling stations of the future, allowing our cities to transition to cleaner and healthier places to live and work.
The Sr. Design Manager will work within the Development Team, and have responsibilities encompassing all aspects of the diligence, constructability, design, permitting and construction project cycle. They will be responsible for managing cost and schedule for projects from initial conceptualization through the construction and energization phases of DCFC site realization. They will be working closely with Site Acquisition Managers and Operational Managers as well as other Development Managers as part of a cross matrixed team. Strong problem solving and communication skills are vital for this role.
The successful candidate will also possess a high level of technical knowledge and experience with DCFC site development. Background in Electrical Engineering or a similar field is preferred as is a professional engineering license.
We are looking for a hands-on problem solver who can creatively move projects forward, meet deadlines and drive group improvements, helping to set standards for best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
- This individual will manage EV DCFC projects from assisting with early site selection, through construction and energization.
- Provide leadership to the group and help establish, improve and reinforce best practices/process.
- Will organize and lead group design review sessions on construction documents.
- Effectively manage engineering, design, and procurement relationships with external service providers and contractors.
- Track and obtain all necessary approvals from utilities and permitting authorities.
- Manage relationships with electric utility companies, understand power procurement processes and help expedite energization timelines.
- Manage project schedule budget and vendor outreach.
- Assist acquisition team with site diligence confirming constructability, projecting costs, and preparing risk assessments
- Identify and communicate risks related to design, implementation and operations of the EV charger systems. Work with team members to develop and execute mitigation and contingency plans.
- Stay current with latest technologies and regulatory standards in relation to utility demand management & Distributed Energy Resource integration as well as Electric Vehicle Charging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Professional Engineering license preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience focused on developing EV charge infrastructure, with a total of 10 years of professional experience related to this role. Experience in the design and construction of building systems or similar projects is acceptable for consideration.
- Proven track record in delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to understand and convey technical concepts and complex topics appropriately tailored to the audience type.
- Thorough understanding of technical electrical concepts and details, experience taking projects from initial concepts to real world implementation through traditional design, bid, build process.
- Strong understanding of product standard bodies such as SAE, UL IEC and NEC.
- Expert level understanding of the National Electrical Code and its implementation.
- Demonstration of clear communication skills both internally and externally.
- Ability to build long term relationships and grow influence.
- Demonstration of complex problem-solving skills in a matrixed organization.
- Local travel will be required and extended trips to other markets will be required occasionally.
Base compensation range for this role is $130,000 - 175,000 per year, based on experience level. Posted salary ranges are reflective of NYC and SF market compensation structures.
