About the role

Render is looking for a People Operations Generalist who will play an integral part of the small (but mighty) People Team at Render. This hire will be the primary driver of employee experience. From running our employee engagement survey, to owning employee benefits and payroll, to building and executing on programs that impact the careers of every Render, the People Operations Generalist will partner with the broader People team, managers, and execs to help make Render a great place to grow a career. We're looking for someone with experience building best-in-class People processes and programs to support rapid scaling of our current 70 employee team.

We are considering candidates to work out of our San Francisco HQ (2+ days/week).

You will:

  • Be the first point of contact for employees in program areas including off-boarding, payroll, benefits, mobility, company policies, and more.
  • Own all HR systems, vendors, and processes. Drive decisions and execution on new investments, migrations and usage.
  • Maintain and evolve Render's benefits philosophy, determine offerings, and execute enrollment (for health benefits, leave/time off, and perks).
  • Manage payroll, in partnership with our accounting team.
  • Utilize external legal support to manage any immigration related needs.
  • In partnership with the rest of the People team and leadership, build and iterate upon programs that improve the experience of every Render. Examples could include:
    • Performance review programs
    • Regular engagement surveys
    • Frameworks for Employee Resource Groups
    • Internal transfer processes
    • Management enablement
    • and more
  • Execute on ad hoc projects that support the broader People Team mission.
  • Amplify and build upon the culture that makes Render special!

We're looking for:

  • Has 3-5 years of experience in People Operations or a similar role
  • Experience at a growing tech company (startup experience is a nice-to-have)
  • Has strong project management skills, and is able to execute cross-functional programs fairly independently
  • Is comfortable with HR tools, and has a demonstrated ability to learn new tools deeply (we use Rippling, Deel, Level, Guideline and Tilt right now)
  • Has experience managing employee payroll and employee benefits programs (or, is ready to dig in and learn!)
  • Is passionate about creating an environment where Renders of all backgrounds want to join and stay to grow their career over the long term
  • Is excited to work from our beautiful San Francisco office a couple of days a week, in order to best build relationships, gain context, and amplify Render's culture

  • Our openings span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $140,000 and $160,000 USD. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
