At Render we are building a powerful, easy-to-use cloud platform to host anything online: from simple static sites to complex applications with dozens of microservices. Render offers the flexibility of traditional cloud providers without their complexity and maintenance headaches so developers and businesses can focus on building products instead of managing servers.

We're a talented and diverse group solving a problem faced by every development team. We iterate quickly while placing the utmost importance on user experience, quality, and reliability. We push ourselves to do better every day. With over half a million customers and rapidly increasing revenue, we're on to something big.

Applying to Render

We're looking for candidates with high integrity, low ego, and an insatiable drive to learn. We use reasoned discussion and constant feedback to improve as individuals and as a company. We cultivate mutual trust and respect, empowering us to debate ideas effectively and create the best outcomes for our customers and our team.

We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.

Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.

About the role

As a founding Account Executive at Render, you will be the face of our company to potential customers. Your role involves discovering prospects, answering questions about our product, and guiding them to the pivotal 'Aha!' moment. You will advocate for a value-driven sales experience by understanding the customer's unique needs and building trust as they learn about our platform. Working with Sales Engineering, Operations, and Finance, you will craft proposals and manage timelines to ensure successful outcomes for both Render and our customers. By joining as one of the earliest sales hires, you will play a foundational role in Render's growth.

What you'll do at Render

  • Manage the full sales cycle across different types of buyer personas, ensuring a seamless transition from lead to customer. Work with our customers to drive their process across their own team and cross-functionally (e.g. legal, procurement, security).
  • Find creative ways to identify and engage potential customers through various channels, including cold and warm outreach, networking, and attending industry events.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline to achieve future revenue targets.
  • Decipher and understand customers' needs and pain points to provide a tailored solution that balances all parties' business objectives.
  • Partner with the Product and Marketing teams to refine and create ways to communicate Render's value proposition, solutions, and services and how they can be applied to address customer business needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with potential and existing customers to drive long-term strategy for an account.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitors in our space.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of experience in an Account Executive role (or similar), with most of that time working on developer tools in a high-growth environment.
  • Deep knowledge of a broad range of developer technologies, including the ability to weigh benefits, limitations, use cases, what's emerging/trending, and why.
  • Exceptional communication skills across writing and conversation with the ability to articulate complex ideas to different stakeholders and audiences and effectively listen to client needs and internal feedback from colleagues.
  • A self-starter who can build from the ground up and manage complex projects requiring sound judgment, collaboration, and leadership in an ambiguous environment.
  • Comfortable running experiments on inbound and outbound sales, creating and executing playbooks, and optimizing sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Skilled in defining new processes and operating effectively in uncharted territory, demonstrating adaptability and innovation in situations where things are not clearly defined.
  • Tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, SalesForce, and Zoominfo are second nature to you and seamlessly integrate into your daily routine.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience selling platform-as-a-service, hosting platforms, or other DevOps tools.
  • Have an established network of tech buyers across small and large startups.
  • Tinkered with web development, providing you with a deeper understanding of our product and the needs of our technical customers.
  • You enjoy exploring new sales tools to increase productivity and effectiveness.

Benefits

  • Our openings span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $170,000 and $210,000 USD. As this is a first-in-role position for Render, and one that will require experimentation and foundation building, the total compensation will be comprised of base salary and equity. We may add a commissions component in the future. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
  • The opportunity is also eligible for equity with early exercise options and extended exercise windows.
  • 4 weeks of paid vacation, available from day one.
  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.
  • Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.
  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs available as well.
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental heath and therapy, hobbies, etc.
  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.
  • Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders.
  • Continuous learning benefits & related support.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
