About the Team:  

We are expanding our Software Engineering team! As a Hardware Test Automation Engineer, you will have a key role in ensuring the proper testing of our avionics components (box ATP/QTP), as well as contributing to the testing of the sub-systems and launch vehicle through HITL. This will include the development of a test infrastructure for avionics hardware testing, including test automation, Vehicle and subsystem HITL DAQ software, and automated data analysis tools for anomaly detection and evaluating pass/fail criteria. These developments will also be used for higher level assemblies across our organization.  This role will be critical to achieving Terran R’s first launch and growing our production capabilities to quickly scale our launch cadence.  

About the Role: 

  • Drive architecture, Design, and development of all embedded software from battery management to high speed sensors to motor controllers
  • Own, develop, and test embedded software from low level hardware drivers to realtime control and signal processing algorithms
  • Work with partner teams such as propulsion, GNC, Avionics, launch, etc. to define system requirements, interfaces, and understand system performance impacts of avionics designs
  • Make complex technical decisions such as risk mitigation, evaluation of trade studies, and anomaly investigations

About You:  

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field and 5+ years relevant experience in software development or Master’s with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ Years of experience leading a team of multiple engineers or multiple examples of significant mentorship, coaching, and project management
  • 5+ Years of experience writing software for embedded systems in C/C++ or similar
  • Experience with software development processes including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation

Nice to haves but not required:  

  • Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and execute on projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead software teams that deliver on company critical milestones and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to plan organizational roadmaps and hiring strategies.
  • Experience with Rust, Python, CMake, and CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Familiarity with realtime operating systems such as VXWorks and FreeRTOS
  • Basic knowledge of electric circuits, integrated circuit datashees
