We Are
At RelationalAI, we are enabling the future of data-centric systems that learn, reason, and predict, built on our cloud-native relational knowledge graph management system. We are bringing together a global team of exceptional people who inspire and respect one another to achieve our mission.
We are intellectually curious, with problem-solving mindsets and a proven track record of delivering results. We value the ability to learn, grow, and respond to an ever-changing landscape of challenges and opportunities as much as we value past experience.
RelationalAI is a remote-first company that has been operating with a distributed team since day one. We are based on six continents, support team members wherever they live, and are fluent in the tools and processes of distributed and often asynchronous work.
Responsibilities
As a system performance engineer at RelationalAI, you will be part of the benchmark team, which is responsible for evaluating the performance of our Relational Knowledge Graph Management System (RKGMS). We implement state of the art benchmark workloads from industry and academia and set up the infrastructure to run them continuously against a variety of system configurations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performance evaluation:
- Latency (e.g. duration of a query), throughput (concurrent users/queries)
- Disk, Memory and CPU utilization.
- Usability
- Can the benchmark concisely be implemented based on the provided specification.
- Help with identifying benchmarks that can help expose the strengths and weaknesses of our systems.
- Automation
- Automate running benchmarks against our product with different system configurations.
- Setup and maintain performance monitors to catch regressions.
- Competitive analysis
- Help identify and quantify our product strengths and weaknesses compared to other systems.
- Correctness
- Use formal and functional methods to verify the correctness of the system.
- Verify the integrity and resiliency of the product using proven tools in the industry (e.g Chaos Monkey, jepsen)
- Design and implement novel methods to break the system, either in correctness of computation or ACID properties.
Who You Are & What You Bring
There are three absolute must-haves: you enjoy evaluating and breaking systems ; you’re curious and enjoy learning; you’re a team player and you give and receive feedback constructively.
Other than that, there is no single prototype of an ideal team member. We are building a team that builds on each other’s strengths, and complements each other’s weaknesses. We are looking for engineers across all experience levels. Here are some example profiles:
- You deeply care about the correctness of complex software systems.
- You enjoy testing and breaking systems, finding scaling factors and bottlenecks. You have experience with tools that help get the job done, and tools that help diagnose not only what went wrong, but why it went wrong.
- You are comfortable with build systems, continuous integration, and deployment tools. You deeply care about software quality and making robust systems.
- You like building CI/CD pipelines with proper automation, metrics and gates, that helps us monitor the performance of the system.
Hiring Process
Qualified candidates can expect the following hiring process:
- A screening call with the Team Lead
- 2-3 meetings with other team members
