The Facilities Manager will oversee facility maintenance and projects for a rapidly growing startup company that is manufacturing large and complex medical equipment requiring extensive facilities support. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing build out and renovation projects with various trade contractors and managing numerous vendor relationships and associated upkeep in a dynamic and regulated environment.
A successful candidate will have prior experience in the manufacturing of medical devices, semiconductor or other complex capital equipment.
Manage projects to build out new facility spaces to support manufacturing, research and office use.
Coordination of all facilities-related contractors and trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Ensure that all facilities equipment is working properly and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to maximize facilities reliability.
Management of office facilities vendors such as cleaning service, waste removal, pest control, etc.
Support facilities-related administrative activities such as office moves, furniture procurement, etc.
Responsible for management of security system.
Support to the EHS Manager in deploying the Company Safety Program and associated training.
Ensure all facilities-related expenses are within budget.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years increasingly responsible facilities experience, with at least two years in facilities management capacity.
Experience in a compliance-oriented and highly regulated environment; FDA Quality System Regulation (QSR) preferred.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC system and applications.
Familiar with all hand, machine and power tool usage.
Previous experience managing large office building construction projects.
Ability to interpret building drawings and equipment schematics.
Working knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and proactive problem solver.
Manufacturing is a 24/7 operation; must be on call during operating hours to lead and/or delegate emergency response as needed.
Must be based locally in the San Francisco Bay Area.
