Lead Engineer for microwave linear accelerator systems for a state-of-the-art radiotherapy machine, supporting accelerator and component design, manufacture, test and transfer to production.
Responsible for engineering of microwave linear accelerator systems for a state-of-the-art radiotherapy machine, including support of process development for assembly, test and commissioning. Responsibilities may extend to component design, test and troubleshooting, reliability and sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering in transfer to production, as well as issues escalated from installation and field service. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, training, and instruction as needed.
B.S. Physics or an Engineering Discipline, with coursework in accelerator physics, and ten years of direct experience with high voltage systems and/or high-power microwave systems or
M.S. Physics or an Engineering Discipline, with five years of direct experience with high voltage systems, high-power microwave systems, or
Ph.D Physics or an Engineering Discipline, with experience in high-power microwave systems.
Two years of direct, hands-on experience in linear accelerator or high-power microwave tube technology including several of: design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, commissioning, field service.
Demonstrated experience in meeting requirements of a Quality Management System
Subject matter expert in high-power microwave systems, instruments and methods
Experience in technical supervision of, or performance of assembly, test and troubleshooting of high-power microwave systems.
Experience in process development and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project.
Viewed favorably but not required: Experience in linear accelerator or microwave tube manufacture, including component design, precision machining, furnace braze, fixture development, microwave measurement. Demonstrated experience with high-power microwave system components such as circulator, coupler, water-cooled load, modulator, pulse transformer, magnetron, cable, gun drivers, electron guns, bremsstrahlung targets, ionization chambers, dosimetry. Prior experience in reliability testing for high power microwave systems and components. Demonstrated interest in improving test plans, scheduling and managing test activities. Prior experience with any of CST Microwave Studio, Mathematica, Matlab, Python, R, Fortran, C/C++, Labview.
