The branded content execution team creates all written branded content for the website, from long-form articles and programs to service and slideshows. We're composed of six categories — Health + Wellness, Living, Entertainment, News, Work & Money, Fashion, and Beauty — and we help shape and guide how Refinery29 and its client partners can make an impact in those spaces, delivering on the brand’s promise of quality storytelling and elevating women’s voices with fresh content, tools, and discussion every day.

About the Job:

Refinery29 is in pursuit of a creative and driven Senior Fashion Editor to join our award-winning fashion team. R29 Fashion celebrates and supports the power style and clothing have in helping women and people discover their own unique sense of identity. Neither fashion nor style are prescriptive at Refinery29—instead, we believe personal style is a tool for confidence, self expression, and resources that make us feel like our best selves. You have experience working with clients and helping to translate a partner’s vision into a finished product that feels right for our brand. You are quick on your feet, adaptable, organized, and can think outside of the box for any incoming RFP. You care deeply about R29 Fashion’s ability to drive influential conversations in this space, constantly elevating Refinery29 as a thought leader in Fashion and the world of style. What You’ll Do:

  • Pitch, write, and edit custom branded content, sponsored programs, and editorial integrations for the fashion vertical. This includes: dedicated articles, shopping roundups, emails, contests/sweeps, editorial integrations, and co-branded collateral.

  • Conceptualize and execute a variety of content types, from interviews to original photo styling stories.

  • Actively participate in and contribute to pre-sale brainstorms for fashion clients.

  • Help grow the junior writers on the team and manage freelancers, ensuring that our content is smart, elevated, and leading the fashion conversation.

  • Maintain Refinery29's brand integrity in all copy and market work.

  • Perform market research to create sponsored shopping stories in accordance with R29’s aesthetic and brand vision.

  • Assist Directors and Creative Direction team with writing and logistics of sold programs/stories from the editorial side. This includes working with editors for seamless integration; liaising with Ad Photo, Ad Design, and Marketing teams; and producing editorial stories from start to finish, in order to meet strict client deadlines.

What You’ll Have:

  • Experience writing and editing experience within digital media required (fashion background strongly preferred).

  • A strong understanding of R29’s voice and style POV.

  • Must be an excellent editor and writer, with a creative vision, spot-on judgement, and the ability to take raw copy and turn it into something truly special.

  • A genuine interest in digital advertising, and branded content specifically.

  • Willingness to make editorial judgment calls in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment, and to flag and escalate any potential issues to Director when necessary.

  • A flawless command of spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

  • Never-ending patience and a collaborative, make-it-work attitude
