About the role

Elastic is looking for a manager to lead our Security Integrations Deployment and Devices team as they build the world-class componentry that powers software deployed at the edge and inside our user's network perimeter. This team is uniquely positioned to cater to the needs of practitioners in DevOps and SecOps roles. 

Elastic Security integrations enable organizations to leverage data from common security data sources to perform investigations and incident response. Our SIEM correlates data from these data sources, including cloud, network and endpoint sources using robust detection rules to find threats quickly.

In addition to guiding our way through our roadmap, you'll help grow a diverse team of collaborative software engineers, each of whom will help shape the future of security integrations at Elastic. The existing team of 7 engineers is spread across Europe and North America.

What you will be doing

  • Mentor and lead a globally distributed team
  • Lead the efficient delivery for time-boxed software releases, ensuring high-quality and innovative feature development
  • Work with our engineers and Product Managers to define requirements
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect, collaboration and consensus-based decision-making
  • Motivate the engineers to perform at their best. Meet with them regularly, guide and support them.
  • Build roadmaps and lead prioritization; balance the right amount of structure and planning for a fast-paced engineering team
  • Support the development and training of direct reports through coaching and regular performance evaluations
  • Participate in interviewing and drive hiring and team growth
  • Be an awesome person to work with, somebody who sincerely cares

 

What you will bring along

  • Experience leading teams of software engineers
  • Significant work as a hands-on software engineer so you understand the core principles of the engineering work that is going on in your team
  • Experience with Github, project management
  • Excellent communication skills and practices with the ability to drive technical conversations to a conclusion
  • Experience working in a highly distributed team with asynchronous workflows
  • A passion for building diverse teams of great people

 

Experience/ interest in some of these areas would be nice

  • Open-source projects and companies
  • Experience with cloud-native methodologies and patterns 
  • Experience with security products, especially in the area of security analytics or SIEM.
  • Experience directly managing software engineers

  • Communication and organization in large, distributed teams


Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
