About Redwood Materials
Battery Pricing Analyst
We are seeking a Battery Pricing Analyst to join the Commercial Team at Redwood. The successful candidate will lead pricing for all incoming feedstock to Redwood’s recycling process, the largest in North America, ensuring profitability as the business scales.
In addition to pricing, this individual will become a battery market intelligence expert. You’ll maintain accurate and up-to-date views of the market (supply-demand trends, commodity price swings) as well as understand our internal cost structure to improve upon our pricing models.
We’ll look to you to develop an opinion, be both persuasive and an active listener, and lean into discussion. We speak in data only. You should be skilled at manipulating data with tools including Excel, SQL, enterprise and customer relationship management systems, market data sources, etc. and enjoy telling stories with data to stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and job functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Revamp Redwood’s feedstock pricing model for both spot and longer-term purchase agreements. We will look to you to take our model to the next level.
- Monitor market intelligence reports for supply/demand & commodity price trends; assess opportunities for new feedstock sources & revenue streams.
- Track & map out partnerships within the electric vehicle supply chain. You’ll gain an understanding of the current and forecasted market size, supply & demand balance for key battery components and metals, and identify gaps / opportunities for Redwood’s products and services.
- Build critical business reports/dashboards, handle ad-hoc data requests, and track KPIs including bid win/loss rates, deal economics, and industry CAGR.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration/Finance, or similar
- 3+ years’ experience in business/data analytics, business/product management, consulting, or corporate strategy; global commercial experience is a plus
- Battery, Battery Materials, Battery Metals (mining or recycled), or Commodities industry experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills are needed. You should be able to interpret data/analysis and intuitively identify/troubleshoot gaps in quantitative analysis. Distilling data into actionable recommendations is key.
- Results oriented: a sense of pace and urgency is critical
- Our business is “dynamic,” meaning our market and we can change quickly. You’ll need to be comfortable in a startup environment. Think independent, motivated, self-starter.
- You won’t have the entire organization reporting to you, but you’ll need to be able to influence them to accomplish your goals. An ability to foster and maintain relationships both internally and externally is essential.
- Smart, scrappy, entrepreneurial, science-loving, CO2-hating, having a bias for action and a lot of grit.
- An ability to have fun while tackling hard problems.
- A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
