Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. Electrochemical Engineer
We are looking for an Electrochemical Engineer at Redwood Materials to accelerate and improve our development of electrochemical systems and processes. You will work together with other scientists, engineers, and technicians focused on developing and commercializing technologies for refining, purification, and chemical transformation using electrochemical methods. In this role, you will drive the development, scale-up and implementation of electrochemical systems at commercial scale.
Responsibilities:
Design and evaluate new electrochemical systems.
Lead prototype assembly, iteration, optimization, and lab to demonstration-scale test work.
Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
Engage with the broader cross-functional team to implement new designs and processes with the goal of rapid commercialization.
Desired qualifications:
Prior experience with designing, fabricating, operating, or maintaining large-scale commercial stack electrochemical units would be an asset.
BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of related industry experience with chemical processes and equipment, with demonstrated success in design, scale-up and commissioning.
Experience with automatic data acquisition instruments and use of computer-aided design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks…etc.) is highly desired.
Strong technical writing, interpersonal and communication skills. Applies advanced scientific technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Track record of solving difficult chemical, metallurgical, or mechanical processing problems in an industrial setting.
Self-motivated with a hands-on approach. Comfortable taking initiative and getting your hands dirty!
