We are a team of doers, seasoned engineers, hackers and builders, working on the future of streaming data.

Funded by premier investors including GV and Lightspeed, Redpanda is building the streaming data platform for developers. We’re evolving streaming beyond the Apache Kafka® protocol into a unified “engine of record” that delivers a categorical reduction in complexity, wicked-fast performance, onboard Wasm transforms, and transparent tiered storage that gives consumers access to both real-time and historical data from a single API.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager (or experienced engineer/sales consultant with relevant domain expertise) to guide the evolution of our core product capabilities for the Redpanda streaming data platform. Reporting to the Head of Core Product, you will work with customers and study the market to gather data, drive the strategic roadmap for several of Redpanda’s core platform capabilities, and guide their inclusion into our self-hosted, SaaS and serverless cloud offerings. You will also help drive the technological vision in these areas, following the latest trends and advising the team on new technologies, standards, approaches, and potential partners in order to stay on the leading edge.

This is an opportunity to work closely with product and engineering leadership and the respective teams at a fast-growing, well-funded startup, building and delivering category-leading products. This role requires deep comfort with enterprise infrastructure technology, working closely with customers often in high pressure situations, and collaborating cross-functionally across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment, juggling many tasks and responsibilities.

You Will:

  • Meet with customers, analyze the competitive landscape, and identify market opportunities to shape the company's product strategy in your areas of responsibility
  • Define requirements for new features through PRDs and prioritize them appropriately in the product roadmap.  Some examples of major functional areas Platform PMs work on include new compute frameworks & SDKs (WebAssembly Data Transforms), storage engine features (Tiered Storage), security features (SSO/OIDC), new Kafka APIs, and performance/multi-tenancy features such as resource quotas.  Redpanda Console and our CLI RPK provide an approachable UX for these core features, and delivering features end-to-end often includes working with our design team to deliver the optimal UX through a mix of GUI, CLI, API and core function behaviors
  • Communicate new features internally and externally and help articulate the value proposition, messaging, and pricing.  This involves training GTM teams, sharing roadmap and product pitches with customers, writing public blogs, attending industry conferences, and potentially briefing industry analysts
  • Collaborate with multiple internal teams (including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success) to ensure we ship the right features, at the right time, with the right user experience to match the expectations of our ICP and various user personas
  • Own delivery of features end-to-end, picking up tasks wherever needed, reviewing documentation, and creating the telemetry required to measure the success of feature launches after rollout

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in direct role-related product management for B2B enterprise software platforms, particularly data infrastructure, data integration or other distributed systems. Alternatively, 5+ years of experience in a sales consulting / customer success role supporting B2B enterprise software sales
  • 5+ years of experience overall experience in enterprise software companies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability  to concisely explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences (and vice-versa)
  • Work with a 100% distributed / remote team, collaborating in GitHub/JIRA Slack, Google docs and other modern productivity tools independently and efficiently
  • Comfortable switching context frequently to address customer, engineering, and go-to-market issues and requests
  • Experience working closely with highly technical products and customers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
