Redesign is looking for a Mobile Android Engineer who will play a critical role in development of mobile applications for our operating companies.  As a Mobile Engineer (Android) on the Startup Creation team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of healthcare applications aimed towards Android devices that integrate with back-end services.

What you'll do:

  • Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform utilized in healthcare services
  • Work with team leadership, Product Managers, Designers, and other technologists to create software to be deployed in enterprise and public app stores based on business and technical priorities
  • Actively contribute to the adoption of robust software architecture, development and engineering best practices, and the adoption of new technologies
  • Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions to intelligently solve problems for Redesign’s clients
  • Utilize industry best practices to ensure code quality and robustness including edge cases, usability and general reliability
  • Advocate test-driven development and deliver high quality, resilient solutions
  • Resolve defects and enhance application performance by analyzing and optimizing code

What you'll need:

  • Background
    • 4+ years of proven Android software development using Kotlin and/or Java
    • Experience with object-oriented programming
    • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON in a cloud computing environment
    • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs (integrations with payment, communication video conferencing, and authentication APIs)
    • Expertise and knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends and emerging technologies
    • Understanding of design guidelines from Google (Material.io) principles and interface guidelines through prior experience publishing an app to Google Play or working with white-label apps 
    • Experience with design trade offs between native and hybrid 
    • Experience working in an Agile environment 
    • Experience working with common components
