The Developer Platform’s mission is to empower our community of 3rd party developers and moderators to extend Reddit with useful and exciting features. 

We’ve built a Reddit-flavored SDK for server driven cross-platform UI, a compute platform, and lots of entry-points into Reddit products.

We’re looking for someone to take charge of our Typescript ecosystem as a technical leader and major contributor.

This is a high impact role where you will have the opportunity to invent new front-end paradigms, and see them used on one of the largest sites in the world.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features that our users will love.
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
  • Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help mentor junior engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise.
  • Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities.

Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of hands-on, non-internship, professional experience in fast-paced software development
  • You have extensive experience (and opinions) on more than one front-end paradigms; (e.g. React, Lit, Next.js, Svelte, Vue)
  • Understanding of Javascript runtimes like Node, JavaScript WebWorkers, and WebAssembly
  • Experience working on a 0-1 team and product, inventing technologies to meet novel use cases
  • Exceptional communication skills with peers, cross-functional partners and leadership
  • You love writing technical docs and convincing others of your approach.
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and to deliver projects on schedule.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
