Recursion is at the forefront of reimagining drug discovery through the integration of automated cell biology, high-dimensional and diverse data sets, and sophisticated analytics. We are seeking a Research Execution Supervisor to manage the execution team's overall performance in the vivarium while promoting open communication to identify and address operational issues. You will take the lead in developing and implementing solutions for these issues and standardize processes where needed and oversee a program aimed at continual process review for efficiency and quality assurance, utilizing all available resources optimally. You will provide in vivo support to preclinical research, which covers technical procedures, data collection, treatment, and health monitoring of laboratory rodents. 

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the in vivo execution lead to support and guide staffing the vivarium with troubleshooting issues, recommend ideas of improvement, and follow-up with action items to ensure their resolution
  • Mentor and coach direct reports, and guide staff in achieving both company and career goals
  • Collaborate with the Research Execution Manager in continuous development of the in vivo  comprehensive training program
  • Conduct training assessments, proficiency testing and follow-up testing to determine effectiveness of training materials and programs for RA staff
  • Lead development and/or revisions of study procedure-related SOPs/OGs
  • Participate in the directional planning and execution of in vivo studies in collaboration with investigators

This onsite position is based in Milpitas, CA. 

The Team You’ll Join 

Reporting to the Research Execution Manager,  you will join a cross-functional team in an environment that requires collaboration and communication across multiple departments. Communication is especially important to the success of our team as much of our reporting is done electronically. The Experience You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of actively participating in the management and execution of in vivo studies
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience setting up and initiating in vivo studies
  • Experience troubleshooting in vivo assays
  • Familiarity with investigation of deviations / CAPA events utilizing root cause analysis techniques in a non-GLP environment
  • Experience assisting with the supervision of the daily activities in the lab including but not limited to troubleshooting study activities/processes
  • Experience in leading/assisting with the development, training, revision, and quality review of internal process
  • Laboratory mentorship/leadership experience
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting of in vivo studies
  • Proficient in the following in vivo procedures: 
  • Dosing administration (IV, IP, SC, PO)
  • Body weight measurements, clinical observations, necropsy
  • Blood collection through various routes (tail, submandibular, submental, etc.)
  • Micro-surgery is desirable 
  • Experience in preparation and collection of detailed experimental and animal health records using data collection software (ie: Microsoft Excel, StudyLog, SoftMouse, Pristima, Provantis, etc)
  • Experience presenting results of procedures and/or experimental results 
  • Good Documentation Practices in a non-GLP or GLP environment

  • Throughout your onboarding, our Vivarium trainer will support you with all the necessary training prior to the execution of in-vivo studies
  • You will have regular 1:1s with your direct supervisor where you will be provided with opportunities for support and feedback
  • Your supervisor will recommend and support relevant certifications that will increase your impact on the company and our mission to decode biology 
  • Management courses / guidance

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:

  • Developing: $99,000
  • Skilled: $110,000
  • Expert: $121,000
