Buying a used car has been essentially the same for 75 years: what’s the mileage, what’s the vehicle history, get a mechanic to check out the moving parts and haggle over the price. As electric vehicles (EVs) hit the used market, buyers are changing the way they research and buy.

Recurrent is the future of how used electric cars are bought and sold. We’ll be entering the established online auto sales business on the basis of a unique differentiator, our independent EV battery reports. As the first mover on used EV battery analysis, we have the best set of cross-manufacturer battery aging data to develop the most accurate predictive algorithm for future battery life and range. 

Why are we doing this? Road vehicles represent 20% of carbon emissions globally, and have accounted for the vast majority of transportation emissions increase since 1970. Electrifying passenger vehicles, in parallel with transitioning our power grid to cleaner energy sources, really moves the needle on climate. We’re going to be a critical part of making that shift -- facilitating the secondary market.

Your Work With Us

As Recurrent’s first Head of Sales, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead the transition from early founder-driven sales. We’ve established early product-market fit for our first dealer-facing EV tools and have sold and on-boarded our first 25 dealerships. As our product evolves, we’re ready to begin scaling up our sales efforts. 

  • Early direct sales work against dealerships and dealership groups to go from 25 to 250 customers in your first 6 months
  • Hire for and create culture for sales and account management team that scales from 250 to 2500 dealers in the following year
  • Create and iterate sales processes, marketing materials and sales management methods that are appropriate for our business stage and industry
  • Contribute to evolving product and marketing work based on early sales insights
  • Partner with CEO on long-term business development activities with other industry players (e.g. auto OEMs, other dealer-facing advertising and technology providers)

What We're Looking For

  • Proven success in a fast-moving tech startup environment. You thrive in the ambiguity and opportunity that presents for quick iteration
  • Deep understanding of effective dealership outreach channels and techniques
  • 3-5 years of sales leadership experience with a small team, with a track record of success that indicates high potential for senior leadership 
  • Great listener and high empathy quotient
