Senior software engineer, data collection (Göteborg)

Job description

We are looking for an experienced software engineer that can strengthen our ability to continuously collect vast amounts of valuable textual data from a large number and variety of sources on the internet, to enable the creation of world leading threat intelligence. The challenges include data volume, content and format inconsistency over time, monitoring data quality, extraction of only relevant data for each source etc. By improving our collection capabilities we are making our threat intelligence graph richer and better, giving our clients powerful means to minimize risk, around the clock, across the globe.

You will be joining the R&D team within Recorded Future, responsible for harvesting, structuring, analyzing, indexing and providing threat intelligence to our clients. Together we improve our cloud based product in an efficient continuous development environment, in close connection to our global clients and their needs. What you will do

  • Build and improve technology for large-scale data collection and text extraction
  • Take ownership of different parts of the system, solving upcoming issues, and foreseeing needs related to e.g. the feature roadmap and trends
  • Measure and evaluate feature and system metrics to continuously improve data quality and service performance
  • Be proactive, go beyond expectations
  • Solve exciting and difficult problems related to vast data volumes, real time analysis and threat intelligence!

What you will need

  • Several years of experience as a software engineer
  • Proficiency in Java / Scala, bonus points for Python
  • Proficiency in Linux / Unix systems, in cloud environments
  • Experience from working with continuous delivery
  • Experience from a DevOps role
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • A basic level of understanding of NLP
  • Ability to work all the way from high level architecture design down to efficient code
  • Ability to take initiatives and communicate/collaborate across teams both locally and globally 
  • Strong English skills
