Who we are looking for

As a Battery Pack Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of battery packs. You will have a direct role in key decision-making to bring to market a portfolio of Re:Build battery packs for many industries! This position will encompass all program cycles including concept design, prototyping, detailed analysis, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and testing. You will use detailed performance simulations to model critical performance. You will quickly develop CAD and/or prototype models and present quality results to customers and other key business partners. This position will require you to collaborate between program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing teams. To be successful in this role strong presentation and communication skills are a must.

  • Support the product design and development for industry changing Re:Build battery packs.
  • Identify core issues, develop solutions, and effectively communicate the impacts across internal and external teams.
  • Create and deliver CAD models and presentations to customers.
  • Manage schedule and tasking to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Develop supporting material for design such as bill of materials, assembly, or installation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to standards and battery pack performance needs.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally to ensure battery software and hardware align with system needs and battery pack requirements.
  • Support and collaborate with program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
  • Lead and collaborate with other engineers, both internally and externally; team building and collaboration across multiple fields to solve complex engineering problems.

 What you bring to the Team

  •  1 or more years of system design for lithium-ion battery packs or related technologies.
  • Up to 3 years of engineering experience for automotive, aerospace, industrial or related industries.
  • Experience in design, developing and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary energy storage.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including significant technical communication. 
  • Self-directed with strong leadership, team building, collaboration, organizational skills, and proven problem solving ability. 
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Basic understanding of UL, or similar, and regulatory certification processes. 
  • Proficient with CAD programs such as CATIA or SolidWorks 
  • Familiar with analysis packages such as FEMAP and NASTRAN (or equivalent)
  • M.S. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar with strong emphasis on practical work.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of project management experience.

Location Requirement: Position is based out of our Pittsburgh PA.
