About Re:Car
Re:Car, is a new US company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space.
Founded in early 2022, Project Re:Car spent its formative months establishing a leadership team and the product definition.
Who we are looking for:
Re:Car is looking for an upbeat, organized, and experienced Hardware Engineer to join our growing team. The Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware Design Engineer plays a critical role in the design and development of advanced battery management systems for high-voltage battery applications.
What you get to do:
- Responsible for creating the hardware architecture and components that monitor, control, and optimize the performance of batteries in various applications.
- Collaborate with the team to identify key components, such as microprocessors and connectors, and decide on other components and chip selections.
- Create detailed schematics, evaluate component selection, and collaborate with PCB layout designers to ensure the reliability and functionality of the BMS hardware
- Provide guidance on high voltage safety, automotive safety, and UL safety standards as they apply to battery systems.
- Work with both internal and external customers on defining system and performance requirements.
- Design and develop the hardware components of the Battery Management System (BMS), including printed circuit boards (PCBs), microcontrollers, analog and digital circuits, and sensors.
- Build and test hardware prototypes, ensuring they meet performance and safety specifications.
- Develop and integrate monitoring circuits and sensors to measure key battery parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge.
- Design communication interfaces (e.g., CAN, SPI, I2C) for data exchange between the BMS and other components in the energy storage system
- Create comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, test plans, DFMEA, and test reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues, making improvements to enhance BMS performance.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually improve the BMS hardware design.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in automotive or similar hardware development
- Proven experience in hardware design, particularly in battery management systems or similar embedded systems
- Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence) and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE)
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, and sensor integration
- Experience with battery technologies, battery safety, and relevant industry standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
