Your Role
We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer who is passionate about developing applications and products leveraging the latest technologies. As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs using Python. You will work closely with our product, design, and engineering teams to create performant and secure backend systems that support our web applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining backend services and APIs using Python (Django/Flask)
- Collaborating with front-end engineers to design and implement UI components using React
- Optimising backend services for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability
- Implementing robust security and data protection measures
- Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and improving existing backend applications
- Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
- Establishing and promoting design best practices across the company
Your Profile
To succeed in this role you:
- Have an extensive experience in backend development using Python, with a strong focus on frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- Have proven ability to design and implement scalable and performant backend services.
- Have a strong knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
- Have to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Have experience with database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Have proficiency in writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Have familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Have a solid understanding of security best practices for backend development.
Preferably you:
- Have experience with containerisation technologies like Docker
- Have experience in building web applications on AWS cloud platform
- Have knowledge of message queues and asynchronous processing (e.g., SQS, Celery, RabbitMQ).
- Have an understanding of front-end technologies to collaborate effectively with front-end developers.
