Your Role 

As an Inventory Accounting Manager, you will join the Accounting team and be expected to understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in your area and to influence the design of systems, processes, and controls for emerging and growing business activities. You have held a similar position at an assistant manager / manager level for a with a Big 4 public accounting firm serving Fortune 500 clients for 5 or more years!

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the timely, accurate, and comprehensive completion of period-end close activities for inventory and associated reserves, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards, in alignment with reporting deadlines
  • Supervising the company's cycle count program to maintain accuracy and reliability in inventory management
  • Leading reporting, managing, and disposing of excess and obsolete inventory to optimize inventory levels
  • Supporting the annual standard cost update process and ensure the accurate updating of all costs in the ERP system
  • Assisting in the development of material standards and overhead rates for the standard cost system
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as FP&A, Accounts Payable, Production, Operations, and Logistics to ensure precise recording of inventory and related expenses
  • Monitoring inventory accounting and related system reports to verify accuracy and completeness
  • Assisting with financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements to ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Providing supervision and guidance to assigned staff in their day-to-day operations, addressing complex inventory accounting tasks and fostering their personal and professional growth
  • Assisting in establishing departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Assessing workloads and provide recommendations to optimize efficiencies within the team
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as requested to support the needs of the department and the organization
  • Performing technical accounting research and position paper writing

 

Your Profile

To succeed in this role you:

  • Have 7+ years of accounting or a related analytical field experience
  • Hold a degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting
  • Possess strong knowledge of accounting close process, IFRS and consolidation
  • Obtain outstanding project management abilities and manage multiple priorities
  • Hold ability to write and document complex accounting memos
  • Have a strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Carry solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology
  • Speak English fluently; other languages are a big plus!

Preferably you:

  • Hold certifications as a CA, MBA, or CPA
  • Carry knowledge of HGB/UK Gaap
  • Have knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
  • Possess strong knowledge of NetSuite
  • Demonstrate a history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges at one or more Fortune 500 companies
  • Have solved multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges
  • Are aptitude for leading teams, influencing and galvanizing others to follow you toward a solution with excellent analytical skills
  • Have Big 4 public accounting experience with Fortune 500 clients, experience in working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up, in global e-commerce or related industry is a plus!
