We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our growing team in our Brooklyn HQ, with an opportunity to contribute to significant parts of a rapidly expanding online digital platform.
quip’s technology team works as an integrated unit with contributions from teams across the company and there is particularly close work within product design, product management, and engineering. Communication and collaboration are a critical part of the job. Our tech stack is mostly Ruby/Rails deployed on Heroku, with a significant investment in testing, CI/CD, and internal tooling.
- Manage a team of 2-6 software engineers, including task planning and code reviews
- Responsible for technical projects and providing leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment
- Accountable for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects
- Contribute technically to projects - we’re looking for hands-on leadership
- Work closely with quip’s product management team to ensure we're building the best products
- High-stakes work on revenue-generating production systems
- Help improve code quality through solid architecture, coding style, testing, and workflow
- 4+ years of experience building software or web applications
- Previous experience managing a team of engineers
- Desire to leverage past experience to make a business impact
- An opinion about what code to test and how to test it
- Strong decision-making skills
- Ruby/Rails experience
- Worked in a HIPAA or other regulated compliance environment
- Heroku deployment veteran
