Position Overview

We are seeking an ambitious Consultant to join our HEOR modelling team as we expand our highly talented team of health economic modellers.

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing health economic models and qualified to MSc level or above in health economics, operational research, mathematics and/or econometrics. Applicants should have a minimum 4 years of experience in developing economic models for health technology assessment (HTA), including cost-effectiveness and budget impact models. A solid knowledge of HTA methods and processes is also required.

As Putnam is a global firm - this role could be placed in one of our many locations (London, Newcastle, Krakow, Paris, or Ireland). Please select your location preference during the application process. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading development of health economic models (model specifications, building economic models and interpreting results)
  • Day-to-day management of projects and leading client communications
  • Development and review of reports and presentations
  • Conducting statistical/econometric analyses of datasets such as resource-use and quality-of-life data (development of statistical analysis plans, data analysis, interpretation of results)
  • Contributing to Health Technology Assessment [HTA] submissions
  • Successfully leading projects to expected quality, timelines and budget
  • Line management of analysts/senior analysts (if required)
  • Leading scoping calls and development of proposals and budgets
  • Development of abstracts and posters for conference presentations
  • Preparation of manuscripts as lead or co-author
  • Contributing to improvement of team processes and trainings

 

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • Higher degree (PhD or MSc) in health economics, economic modelling or related discipline
  • Practical experience in the implementation of cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses using statistical/ mathematical modelling techniques such as decision tree analysis, Markov modelling and/ or discrete event simulations
  • Good knowledge of health economics and HTA methodologies and processes
  • Experience of developing health economic models for HTA purposes: conceptualization, design and implementation
  • A strong understanding of the global payer environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Client management skills
  • Experience of successful proposal development
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues
  • Excellent quantitative skills, including econometrics
  • Solution orientated
  • Good knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g. STATA, R)
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel skills
