Purpose of the role:

Lead Data Architect is the visionary force of the Platform and is accountable for shaping the Platform and preserving its health. He/she owns the architectural decisions for the team. He/she works closely with the rest of the team to create a modular and scalable solution that addresses future architectural changes and customer needs. This person will drive the team’s engineering practices in test driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment. Additionally, he/she is a hands-on team member who actively coaches the team to solve complex technical problems.  As Lead Data Architect you’ll get to showcase your expertise in designing, developing, and supporting data models for analytics solutions. More specifically, you will:

  • Work closely with teams to collect and translate information requirements into data to develop data-centric solutions
  • Ensure that industry-accepted data architecture principles and standards are integrated and followed for modeling, stored procedures, replication, regulations, and security, among other concepts, to meet technical and business goals
  • Continuously improve the quality, consistency, accessibility, and security of our data activity across company needs


Key Responsibilities:

  • Led Data Engineering team in delivering innovative solution across Divisions
  • Member of the Data Council
  • Design and maintain underlying infrastructure architecture and orchestration across hybrid data environments, in collaboration with the DevSecOps teams
  • Work with Divisional Data Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities of the Platform and share the responsibility for building reusable and scalable components
  • Create data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivity
  • Guide Divisional project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration and automated deployment
  • Define architecture standards/ policies and provide related user documentation (incl. updating application disposition and migration rules)
  • Support and guide enterprise level architecture decisions and provide the team a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality
  • Maintain, communicate, and drive adoption of cloud operation standards and tooling across Cloud DevOps and Infra delivery teams (to propagate cloud-related best practices)
  • Assess technology trends and direction providing guidance on how those trends will impact organization opportunities as well as risks
  • Look constantly for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo


Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ years of experience in Information Technology designing, managing cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure)
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Experienced developer or technical lead with deep insight into newest technologies and trends
  • Expert for the technical components of the Platform and the relevant user journeys
  • Able to make architecture decisions at team and product level
  • Deep tech knowledge around platform architecture (AWS/Azure), frontend and backend frameworks and cloud engineering
  • Expertise in open-source cloud/DevOps tools and programming languages
  • Deep understanding of system development lifecycles
  • Emphasis on end user outcomes as key drivers of technology decision making
  • In depth understanding of cloud platforms, respective payment model for cloud, different drivers of cost and implications of cloud vendor pricing on decisions and overall budget plans
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritise
  • Strong communication skills with ability to align team on complex technical decisions
  • Credibility and leadership qualities to take fast and difficult product decisions
  • Experience working on projects that span multiple business units or organizations
  • Entails strong attention to detail and ensures a high-quality product and an organized build process
  • Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team’s potential
